Have You Met the “Clairs”?
"You are part of the universe; you are made of stars.”
~ Thích Nhất Hạnh
Have you ever heard a word, a line, a voice of inspiration or wisdom, and wondered:
Where did that come from?
Have you ever had a glimpse of a dream or vision you sensed or simply knew was more than your imagination?
Have you ever had a feeling or sensation that told you which way to turn, even when it wasn’t your intended direction?
Have you ever known something was true without knowing how you knew?
If so, you may have met the "Clairs."

These are the four primary "Clairs":
Clairvoyance, or clear seeing, can appear as a daydream or vision — a glimpse, an image, a glimmer of something not yet fully formed.
Clairaudience, or clear hearing, may arrive as an inner voice, a word, a phrase— something that seems to come from somewhere beyond our usual hearing and thinking.
Claircognizance, or clear knowing, is that sudden, embodied knowing of something without knowing how you know – whether past, present, or future.
Clairsentience, clear sensing or feeling, comes through the body — a sensation, a shift, an energetic feeling, an inner compass that says: this way.
Do these sound familiar?
There are three other "Clairs" – clairalience (smelling), clairgustance (tasting), and clairtangency (touch) – equally fascinating, especially in relationship to memory, imagination, and writing.
I discovered these sisters — the "Clairs" — about 30 years ago, in the midst of an awakening.
You might say my star seed had cracked open, and suddenly a potent energy was released inside me — an energy that saw, heard, knew, and sensed things.
Kind of mind-blowing, really. And also like a homecoming.
It took a while to assimilate and to understand, this was not my imagination; rather, intuitive, extrasensory ways of perceiving beyond ordinary thought.
And I believe we each carry these extraordinary senses within us.
The thing I've noticed about the "Clairs" is that they can remain hidden inside us, often undetected — even by ourselves — until we clear the way for them, consciously or unconsciously.
So I welcomed them like lost or distant stars, awakening inside me. Bringing to light a way of being from a world I’d known in other times and places.
And I’ll tell you this, too, what I've noticed about the "Clairs": they come and go – and cannot always be summoned – but they’re also always here.
I believe they are soul seeds – seeded in each of us, and turn on with the right conditions, a catalyst or prompt – *promere – like stars in the night sky, there, too, in the daylight, though not always visible, yet always inside us, waiting to guide us.
“You are part of the universe; you are made of stars. When you look at your loved one, you see that he is also made of stars and carries eternity inside.” ~ Thích Nhất Hạnh
